Solio Game Reserve

Solio Game Reserve, officially known as Solio Ranch Conservancy, is a private wildlife sanctuary located in Kenya’s Central Highlands between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range. Established in 1970, it covers about 17,500 acres of fenced savannah and acacia woodland dedicated to the protection of rhinos and other wildlife. Solio is divided into distinct zones that support black and white rhinoceroses, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes. It holds the highest rhino density in the world, with more than 250 individuals living in a secure, monitored habitat. Bordering Laikipia to the north and Nyeri County to the south, it lies about 30 kilometres north of Nyeri town. The reserve does not border any national park but works closely with the Kenya Wildlife Service to relocate rhinos to other protected areas. Solio’s landscape combines open plains and wooded areas, offering one of the best private safari experiences in East Africa.
