Tsavo East National Park — Kenya's largest game reserve

With an area of 11,747 km², Tsavo East National Park is the largest national park in Kenya. It was established in 1948 and, together with the Tsavo West National Park, forms the Tsavo ecosystem, which covers over 22,000 km². The park is located in Makueni, Taita-Taveta and Kilifi counties and is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Tsavo National Park is a large area divided into two parts: Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Both are located in Kenya and are known for their abundant wildlife. Tsavo East, also known as the “Taru Desert”, is located near the town of Voi and borders Tanzania, while Tsavo West is a little further west, also in Kenya's Coast Province.

Tsavo East lies mainly in Taita-Taveta County, but also in Makueni and Kilifi Counties. Kitui County lies further north and is not directly connected to Tsavo East National Park. Tana River County is also further away and is not directly crossed by the park.

Overview

Your unforgettable safari

begins with a pick-up from your accommodation or the airport. From there, we will journey into the heart of Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and most impressive wildlife reserves.

The drive takes approximately 3 hours, but don’t worry – the time flies by! Enjoy the fascinating Kenyan landscape as you approach the park and gather your first glimpses of the untamed nature that awaits you.


By around 9 AM, we will arrive at the park, and your first safari adventure begins! Keep your camera ready, as Tsavo East is home to an incredible array of wildlife that you will experience up close.


After the exciting safari, you’ll check into your lodge or camp, offering an authentic yet comfortable stay in the heart of the bush. After a delicious lunch, you’ll have time to rest and take in the stunning surroundings. In the afternoon, we head out for your second safari of the day, where you’ll have the chance to discover even more of the park’s fascinating wildlife.


After an eventful day, you’ll return to your accommodation, where a delicious dinner awaits you. Unwind in the peace of the African bush, reflecting on the day's adventures as you prepare for the next day.
The following morning, we start early with a morning game drive to catch the animals at their most active in the cool of the dawn. Afterward, enjoy a tasty breakfast before having some free time in the morning to relax, refresh by the pool, or simply enjoy the tranquillity of Tsavo East.


In the afternoon, you’ll head out for another thrilling safari, where you may encounter even more of the park’s abundant wildlife. The day will conclude with a tasty dinner, followed by a peaceful night under the stars.


On the third day, we begin early to make the most of your final day in the park. After breakfast and check-out, we embark on one last game drive as we exit the park, giving you one more chance to enjoy the stunning landscape and majestic animals.


As your 3-day safari comes to an end, you’ll leave Tsavo East with countless unforgettable memories and experiences – an adventure that will stay with you forever.

    Start of the adventure

    05:00 - 06:00 (by arrangement):
    Pick-up from your hotel in Diani Beach, Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi, Watamu. Please be ready in time in the hotel lobby or at the reception. Your driver/guide will ask for your name.

    Drive to Tsavo East National Park:
    As the sun rises over the Kenyan landscape, enjoy a relaxing drive through the awakening countryside. The route passes through picturesque villages and open landscapes, with occasional wildlife sightings along the roadside.

    The journey takes around 3 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The breathtaking scenery makes the time fly by.

    Approx. 09:00 - Arrival at the gate:
    Your unforgettable safari begins here. The entrance through the gate leads you directly into the majestic African savannah, where the first game viewing tour starts. Get ready to experience elephants, lions, zebras and many other animals in their natural environment.

    Safari adventure and relaxation at the lodge

    The second day begins early in the morning with an exciting safari. In the cool hours of the day, the Savannah comes to life: Many animals, including big cats such as lions and leopards, can be seen hunting or doing their morning activities. With a bit of luck, you can experience these fascinating scenes up close.

    On your return to camp, a hearty breakfast awaits you, which you can enjoy with a view of the idyllic landscape. Afterwards, you have time to relax: Linger by the pool, enjoy the peace and quiet and the unique view of the vastness of Tsavo East National Park.

    For lunch, you will be treated to another delicious meal at the camp. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to unwind once again - whether with a cosy book, a walk or simply to take in the sounds of nature.

    In the late afternoon, when the sun starts to get lower, you go on safari again. The warm light gives the Savannah a magical atmosphere as you discover more wild animals in their natural environment. Every trip offers new surprises and experiences that will stay with you forever.

    Back at camp, you can end the day in peace and quiet. After dinner, you have free time to review the events of the day, admire the starry sky or simply prepare for a restful night in the silence of the African wilderness.

    Farewell to Tsavo East and return to the accommodation

    Your last day begins with a hearty, early breakfast at your accommodation before you set off on one last exciting safari. The cool morning air and the warm light of the rising sun create ideal conditions to experience the wild animals of Tsavo East National Park once again in their natural environment. Have your camera ready to capture majestic elephants, elegant giraffes and many other fascinating animals in the vast Savannah.

    After this unforgettable discovery tour, you return to the camp to check out and prepare for the drive back to your accommodation or the airport. During the drive, you will have the opportunity to take in the impressive Kenyan landscape one last time - you may even spot some animals along the way.

    You will reach your destination in the afternoon, filled with memories of a unique safari adventure that you will not soon forget.
