With an area of 11,747 km², Tsavo East National Park is the largest national park in Kenya. It was established in 1948 and, together with the Tsavo West National Park, forms the Tsavo ecosystem, which covers over 22,000 km². The park is located in Makueni, Taita-Taveta and Kilifi counties and is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Tsavo National Park is a large area divided into two parts: Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Both are located in Kenya and are known for their abundant wildlife. Tsavo East, also known as the “Taru Desert”, is located near the town of Voi and borders Tanzania, while Tsavo West is a little further west, also in Kenya's Coast Province.

Tsavo East lies mainly in Taita-Taveta County, but also in Makueni and Kilifi Counties. Kitui County lies further north and is not directly connected to Tsavo East National Park. Tana River County is also further away and is not directly crossed by the park.
